PAST EVENT – Menifee’s Santa’s Workshop & ABC7 Spark of Love Toy Drive – December 17, 2011 – Quail Valley Elementary School (Big MaMa Earth Co-Hosted this “heart warming” Event) (Click to View Pictures)

Big MaMa Earth Co-Hosted this heart warming event and supported  the Spark of Love Toy Drive and Menifee’s Santa’s Workshop. Last year at this event over 1000 deserving underserved children received  a special picture with Santa and a pick of a toy.

The Spark of Love toy drive has been around for 17 years assisting underprivileged children through out Southern California. Donations to fire stations are given to local charities to distribute to children who might not otherwise enjoy a present at Christmas. For the past six years, the Menifee Battalion Spark of Love Toy Drive has assisted the Menifee Valley Chamber of Commerce and Menifee Community Cupboard present Santa’s Workshop.

The Workshop is held on the Saturday before Christmas Eve. Families apply for the Workshop through the Menifee Schools and Menifee fire stations. The applicants are screened by the Cupboard and families are invited to visit with Santa at the Quail Valley School. At the Workshop children get their picture taken with Santa, they pick out a present or two, they receive games and stuffed toys, make ornaments and snack on cookies and punch.

The community assists by contributing toys to the fire stations and donation boxes located through out the community. New and used bicycles are collected to be refurbished and raffled off at the Workshop. Various groups assist at the event as organizers, attendants, transportation assistants, elves, and numerous duties that are required to make the event an enjoyable experience for all. Even cash donations are accepted by the Community Cupboard for items not otherwise provided (cups, cookies, photo paper, bicycle helmets, tape, glue, paint, etc.)

Information regarding the Toy Drive and Workshop can be obtained by calling either the Chamber of Commerce, Community Cupboard or Leonard Grill (951-541-8042), the Spark of Love coordinator for the Menifee Battalion.
